Ingredients

For making this strawberry baked oatmeal recipe, you will only need some basic ingredients that are easily available in any kitchen. Let’s dive into the details of each ingredient:

  • Strawberries: Fresh juicy and sweet strawberries are the star ingredient of this recipe. Other than being rich in antioxidants and vitamin C, they also add a burst of juicy flavor, natural sweetness, and gorgeous color to this recipe.

I have used fresh strawberries here, but you can also use frozen strawberries for making this recipe. Just remember to thaw them before adding to the oat mixture.

  • Bananas: I have added 1 mashed ripe banana to the wet ingredients. It acts as a natural sweetener and contributes to the creamy texture of strawberry baked oats. I have also topped the dish with banana slices to give a touch of tropical flavor to the dish.

  • Egg: I have used 1 large egg in this recipe. It is used as a binding agent and provides moisture to baked strawberry oatmeal. For making it vegan, you can substitute the egg with a flaxseed egg.

To make flaxseed egg, combine 1 tablespoon of ground flaxseed with 2 tablespoons of water and let it sit for a few minutes until it develops a gel-like consistency.

  • Rolled Oats: I have used 2 cups of rolled oats as base of the baked strawberry oats. It provides a hearty and satisfying texture. They are also a great source of fiber, essential nutrients like manganese, phosphorus, and magnesium.

  • Milk: It adds creaminess to this strawberry baked oat and helps bind the ingredients together. I have used 1 3/4 cups of regular dairy milk for this recipe.

But you can also use a non-dairy alternative such as almond milk, oat milk, or coconut milk, and any other milk of your choice.

  • Coconut oil: I have added coconut oil to the oatmeal mixture to make it rich and moist. Adding coconut oil also adds a subtle tropical note. But you can also use olive oil for a milder flavor.

  • Sweetener: I have added maple syrup as it adds a natural sweetener. Maple syrup infused baked strawberry oats with a satisfying caramel-like taste. 1/4 cup pure maple syrup

  • Vanilla extract: It adds a subtle sweet aroma to this strawberry baked oats while enhancing the overall flavor profile of the oatmeal.

  • Ground cinnamon: I have added 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon to the oats mixture. It adds a warmth and depth of flavor which complements the natural sweetness of strawberries and bananas.

  • Baking powder: By aiding the oatmeal in rising slightly during baking, baking powder results in a fluffy and tender texture.

  • Fine sea salt: I have added about 1/4 teaspoon of sea salt. It heightens and balances the sweet flavors of the dish.

  • Chia seeds: They are a superfood which provide additional fiber and omega-3 fatty acids and also help create a pudding-like consistency in the strawberry baked oatmeal.

  • Chocolate chips: I have added dark chocolate chips to add decadence and indulgence to this baked oatmeal. You can also use milk or white chocolate chips in this recipe. Dark chocolate can also be used in this recipe.

  • Sliced almonds: It provides a delightful crunch, rich protein, healthy fats, and nutty flavor to this strawberry baked oatmeal recipe.

Serving Suggestions

After baking, let the baked oatmeal cool for 7-8 minutes on a cooling rack to get the perfect slices. You can also serve it straight from the oven if you prefer soft serve.

You can serve the warm baked oatmeal pieces as they are or to increase the flavor, serve it with a dollop of cream or a dollop of yogurt, and also drizzle generously with maple syrup.

To make it look more appealing, dust it with powdered sugar, drizzle with chocolate sauce, and garnish it with fresh strawberries. You can also serve it along with blueberry baked oatmeal. Pair baked oatmeal with a cup of steaming hot coffee, tea, or even with strawberry milkshake or mango milkshake for a complete and indulgent breakfast or snack experience.

Storage Suggestions

Leftovers store very well in the refrigerator. Just ensure the baked oatmeal cools completely before storing. Once cooled, place the leftover sliced in an airtight container and refrigerate them for 4-5 days.

When you want to enjoy strawberry baked oats, simply serve them cold or reheat the individual servings in the microwave for 30 seconds to 1 minute, or until warmed through.

Freezing

When you want to indulge, thaw the frozen baked oatmeal overnight in the refrigerator and reheat in the microwave before serving. Just keep in mind that the texture may slightly change after freezing and reheating.

Make-Ahead Strawberry Baked Oats

If your mornings are hectic, then you can make this baked oatmeal in advance. You need to follow the same recipe instructions for this recipe. Make the oatmeal mixture at night, but instead of baking it immediately, cover the oatmeal mixture and refrigerate it overnight.
