How to Make Blueberry Overnight Oats

Making this overnight oat recipe is remarkably simple and needs only a few handy ingredients and a bit of prep time the night before.

To make this easy recipe, all you need to do is to combine the ingredients such as rolled oats, almond milk, chia seeds, maple syrup, vanilla extract, and fresh blueberries in a bowl or jar.

Cover and let it sit in the refrigerator overnight, allowing the oats to soak up the liquid. The oats will absorb most of the liquid and become soft and creamy just like pudding. In the morning, stir the oat well and check the consistency.

If it is thick, add some more milk if needed to reach your desired consistency, and stir again until well combined.

Top with fresh or frozen blueberries and other toppings of your choice to give it more texture and flavor. Your wholesome, fulfilling, and healthy breakfast is ready, served chilled and starts your day with an indulgent meal.

  • Sweetener: I have used maple syrup to sweeten the oats and to make them taste more enticing. The amount of sweetener depends on how sweet you prefer them. You can also substitute maple syrup with honey or agave syrup.

  • Flavoring: I have added a dash of vanilla extract to add a subtle sweet flavor. I have also added a little bit of cinnamon powder because blueberries and cinnamon are just best friends.

Adding cinnamon makes it a blueberry muffin overnight oats, but adding cinnamon is completely optional.

  • Toppings (optional): I have topped oats with fresh blueberries, strawberries, chia seeds, sunflower seeds, and a drizzle of sweetener. You can use sliced almonds, pistachios, shredded coconut, or nutty crunch. Or add apples, mangoes, or any of your favorite fruits here.
