Ingredients

  • Greek yogurt – It is one of the key ingredients in this recipe, so use good quality yogurt. Greek yogurt is high in protein and thus it is an essential nutrient that is important for maintaining good health, as it repairs and builds new tissues in the body.

Using full-cream yogurt is recommended because it helps to keep us feeling full and satisfied. I used full-cream yogurt, but you can also use semi-skimmed yogurt here.

  • Strawberries – They add a beautiful color, and sweet and juicy flavor to the bark while providing a healthy dose of antioxidants and vitamin C. I used both fresh and frozen strawberries here. You can only use one type of strawberry for making this bark.

  • Honey – It is added for natural sweetness. Honey is a natural sweetener known for its antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties. Adding honey makes a healthier alternative to traditional sugar without the added processed sugars.

You can also use maple syrup, agave nectar, or regular white sugar here.

  • Vanilla extract – It is added for a touch of rich and aromatic flavor that elegantly compliments the sweet and tangy flavor of the strawberries. Vanilla bean paste or extract can be used in this recipe.

  • Chocolate – To add texture and sweetness, I topped the bark with chopped white chocolate and dark chocolate chips. You can also drizzle it with melted chocolate.

Storage Suggestions

Strawberry Greek yogurt bark is best stored in an airtight container in the freezer. We have some storage suggestions for you to ensure that your bark stays fresh and delicious. By following these storage suggestions, you can enjoy your homemade bars at any time:

  • Wrap them separately – Before storing the strawberry yogurt bark in a ziplock bag or air-tight freezer-safe container, make sure to wrap each bark well in plastic wrap or a piece of parchment paper.

This individual wrapping will prevent the freezer burn and will keep them fresh. This step is also helpful to avoid any unwanted odors or moisture.

  • Use an airtight container: Use an airtight container to store the bark in the freezer. This will prevent any unwanted odors or moisture.

  • Keep some room: When storing this bark in air-tight containers, make sure not to overfill the container. It is because the bark expands after freezing, so it needs enough room to expand.

  • Consume them within a month: To maintain freshness, it is essential to eat them within a month.

  • Thaw them for 5-7 minutes: Take the barks out of the freezer in advance to allow them to thaw for 5-7 minutes before serving:

  • Always store them in the freezer: This bark melts quickly in a warm place, so consider storing it in a colder area.

Tips and tricks to make the Best Strawberry Yogurt Bark

  1. Nuts & Seeds: To add some texture to this bark recipe, you can add some chopped nuts, seeds, or dried fruit to the mixture before freezing. The nuts and seeds that taste good here are almonds, cashews, pistachios, sunflower seeds, chia seeds, raisins, and dried cranberries.

  2. Chocolate: I have topped these barks with white and dark chocolate. If you’re not a fan of chocolate, you can skip it or use nuts instead.

  3. Food Color: To keep this bark healthy and natural I didn’t add any food color. For a pretty festive touch, you can add a few drops of food coloring or ½ teaspoon of beetroot powder to the strawberry yogurt mixture.

  4. Strawberry puree: If you don’t have fresh or frozen strawberries, then you can also use the store-bought strawberry puree to make this bark recipe.

  5. Vegan Strawberry Yogurt Bark: If you want to make a vegan version of this recipe, use vegan yogurt and chocolate.

  6. Toppings: I topped my bark with strawberries, white chocolate, and dark chocolate. You can also top the mixture with other toppings of your choice such as crunchy cereals, crushed oreo, granola, coconut flakes, and almonds before freezing. It will create a nice texture contrast.

  7. Strawberries: For making strawberry bark using fresh and ripe strawberries it is important to get the sweet flavor.

  8. Greek Yogurt: Using full-fat Greek yogurt is recommended for a creamier and richer bark. However, a low-fat yogurt can is also used here.

  9. Flavorings: To make this strawberry yogurt bark more flavorful, you can add a teaspoon of lemon zest or a tablespoon of lemon juice to the yogurt mixture. Instead of vanilla extract, you could also use some other extracts like almond, lemon, or mint to create a different flavor profile.
