You will need ripe yet slightly firm avocados for making this chaat. You can either chop them or dice them before assembling chaat. They add a creamy texture to this chaat.

  • Chickpeas: Added for a nutty texture, earthy flavor, and added protein. I have used canned chickpeas here, but you can also use soaked and boiled chickpeas.

  • Veggies: I have added chopped tomatoes for a burst of freshness and acidity. They boost the overall flavor profile of this chaat. Red onions are added for a pungent and crispy element, sharp flavor, and a vibrant color. Cucumbers are added for crisp freshness.

  • Fruits: For a fruity flavor and juicy goodness, I have added a bit of ripe kiwis and sliced grapes. You can also use pomegranate arils, peaches, or mangoes here.

  • Chaat Dahi: It is a seasoned yogurt, where chilled plain yogurt, aka dahi, is whisked with a bit of sugar and salt. This balances the heat from spices and creates a luscious base for the other chaat ingredients.

  • Chutneys: Like all chaat recipes, this chaat also needs sweet tamarind chutney for a sweet and tangy flavor. You will also need mint-coriander chutney or coriander chutney for a burst of freshness, cooling, and herbal contrast. These both chutneys complement other bold flavors of this chaat

  • Other ingredients: I have used roasted salted peanuts and Nylon sev for added crunch, color, and flavor. They both add a satisfying, crispy element. You can also use other toppings like crispy fried chickpeas, chana dal namkeen, moong dal namkeen, makhana namkeen, masala peanuts, masala kaju, or aloo bhujia.

  • Seasonings: I have used various spices like cumin powder for earthy flavors, chaat masala powder for chaat flavors and a hint of tanginess, black salt for pungency, and red chili powder for heat.
