Fresh, ripe mangoes give this Mango Chili Spritz its naturally sweet flavor and creamy texture, while fresh lime juice adds brightness and balances the sweetness of the fruit. A little maple syrup enhances the natural sweetness of the mangoes without making the drink overly sweet, while a pinch of chili powder adds gentle heat that beautifully complements both the mango and lime.

Ingredients

For the Mango Purée

  • Mangoes: Mangoes are the star ingredient of this recipe. Make sure you use sweet, juicy, fully ripe mangoes for the best flavor. The riper and sweeter your mangoes are, the better your Mango Chili Lime Spritz will taste. Fresh mangoes give this sparkling mango drink a naturally creamy texture, vibrant tropical flavor, and a lovely color. You can also use frozen mango chunks after thawing them. Or, if you want a chilled or frozen Mango Chili Lime Spritz, simply use the frozen mangoes. If mangoes are not in season, you can also use store-bought mango purée. That works perfectly fine. But for the best texture and flavor, I highly recommend using fresh, ripe, sweet mangoes.

  • Fresh Lime Juice: You can use freshly squeezed lime juice or bottled lime juice. They both work perfectly fine. Freshly squeezed lime juice adds brightness and balances the sweetness of the mangoes. I didn’t use it this time because I accidentally cut my finger, and you know what happens when citrus touches a cut. So, I used bottled lime juice instead, but fresh lime juice works beautifully. It also enhances the tropical flavor of this homemade Mango Chili Lime Spritz. For the freshest flavor, I highly recommend using freshly squeezed lime juice whenever possible.

  • Maple Syrup: I use maple syrup to naturally sweeten this mango mocktail because it adds a subtle depth of flavor while keeping the sweetness mild. It also enhances the overall mango flavor. But if you don’t have maple syrup or simply don’t want to use it, you can always use agave nectar, honey, coconut sugar, or any other sweetener of your choice. And if your mangoes are extra ripe and naturally sweet, you can even skip the sweetener altogether.hat’s perfectly fine. Feel free to adjust the sweetness depending on how sweet your mangoes are and your personal taste.

  • Chili Powder: To give this drink its signature chili flavor, I added some chili powder. It gives this spicy mango mocktail its gentle heat and beautiful color. Feel free to adjust the amount depending on how spicy you like your drinks. You can also use smoked paprika or muddle some fresh jalapeños with the mangoes for a different flavor. However, chili powder is my favorite because it gives the drink a lovely reddish tinge. If you’re sensitive to heat, simply use a mild chili powder.

  • Sea Salt: A little sea salt is added to the mango purée to bring out the natural sweetness of the mangoes while balancing the sweet, tangy, and spicy flavors. You only need a small amount, but it makes a big difference in the overall flavor of the drink.

For the Chili-Lime Seasoning

  • Chili Powder: For the chili-lime seasoning, I use chili powder for a little warmth and overall flavor. Feel free to adjust the amount depending on how spicy you like it.

  • Garlic Powder: I added some garlic powder for subtle savory notes that go really well with the other flavors, especially the chili and sweet mangoes.

  • Smoked Paprika: Smoked paprika gives this seasoning a mild smoky flavor and a lovely deep red color. It also makes the seasoning look even more beautiful.

  • Brown Sugar: I added a little brown sugar for a touch of sweetness that balances the chili and lime flavors. You can also use white granulated sugar or any other sugar of your choice.

  • Sea Salt: A little bit of sea salt enhances all the flavors and brings everything together.

  • Fresh Lime Zest: Lastly, fresh lime zest adds a wonderful citrus aroma and freshness to the seasoning, making it taste even more vibrant.

For Serving

  • Ice Cubes: For serving, you will need lots of ice cubes. They keep the drink perfectly chilled without diluting the mango flavor too quickly.

  • Sparkling Water: Sparkling water gives this sparkling mango mocktail its refreshing fizz. I recommend adding it just before serving to keep the bubbles fresh. Instead of sparkling water, you can also use soda water or lemon- or lime-flavored sparkling water. They all work perfectly well in this recipe.

  • Fresh Basil: I use fresh basil leaves as a garnish because they add a subtle herbal flavor that pairs beautifully with the mango and lime. I also love the contrast of the bright yellow mangoes and the fresh green basil. It makes the drink look beautiful and gives it that gourmet presentation you might get at a restaurant or a summer bar.

  • Mango Wedges & Lime Slices: You will also need mango wedges and lime slices for garnishing. I also coated the mango wedges with the chili-lime seasoning for even more flavor. It is one of my favorite little touches and makes the drink look extra fresh and beautiful.

  • Pineapple Juice (Optional): For the tropical variation, I also use chilled pineapple juice. It adds a lovely tropical flavor and turns this drink into a refreshing Tropical Mango Chili Lime Spritz. Adding pineapple juice is completely optional, but if you would like to try a tropical version, I highly recommend it.

Equipment

For this Mango Chili Lime Spritz, you don’t need any fancy equipment, just some basic kitchen tools that you probably already have.

  • High-Speed Blender: You will need a high-speed blender to blend the mango chili lime purée until smooth and creamy.

  • Small Plate: For mixing the chili-lime seasoning.

  • Citrus Juicer (Optional): If you are using fresh limes, a citrus juicer makes juicing them much easier.

  • Zester or Microplane: For zesting the fresh lime.

  • Small Plate: For coating the glasses with lime juice and the chili-lime seasoning.

  • Measuring Cups & Spoons: To measure all the ingredients accurately.

  • Serving Glasses: To serve your Mango Chili Lime Spritz.

  • Spoon or Straw: For gently stirring the drink before serving.

That’s it! Once you have everything ready, making this refreshing Mango Chili Lime Spritz couldn’t be easier.

How to Make Mango Chili Lime Spritz

Making this refreshing and delicious mango chili lime spritz is very simple and straightforward and takes just a few minutes from start to finish.

Make the Mango Purée

To begin with, let’s make the mango purée.

  • Slice the mangoes from both sides, score the flesh in a crisscross pattern, and scoop it out using a spoon.

  • Add the ripe mango chunks to a high-speed blender along with the lime juice, maple syrup, chili powder, and sea salt.

  • Blend until the mixture is completely smooth, creamy, and silky, with no visible pieces of mango remaining.

  • Taste the mango purée and feel free to adjust the sweetness, heat, or lime juice according to your taste.

  • If your mangoes are naturally sweet, you may only need a small amount of maple syrup. I used about 3 tablespoons of maple syrup in my mango purée, but you can add more or less depending on the sweetness of your mangoes.

  • Likewise, if your mangoes are slightly tart, simply add a little more maple syrup to balance the flavors.

  • Once the mango purée is ready, set it aside while you prepare the chili-lime seasoning and the serving glasses.

Make the Chili-Lime Seasoning

Now let’s make the chili-lime seasoning.

  • In a small bowl or on a small plate, combine the chili powder, garlic powder, smoked paprika, brown sugar, sea salt, and freshly grated lime zest.

  • Mix everything together until well combined.

  • This simple seasoning adds sweet, smoky, tangy, and slightly spicy flavors that perfectly complement the sweet mangoes.

  • It is the star of this drink and a must-have seasoning for this recipe.

Decorate the Glasses

  • First, dip one side of your serving glass into fresh lime juice.

  • Then coat that section with the chili-lime seasoning.

  • This gives the glasses a beautiful presentation.

  • Instead of decorating the whole rim, I like to decorate just one side. This lets everyone enjoy as much or as little of the seasoning as they like with every sip.

  • So, it looks beautiful, and it also lets everyone enjoy the drink just the way they like.

Assemble the Mango Chili Lime Spritz

Assembling this Mango Chili Lime Spritz is the easiest part.

  • Fill each serving glass with plenty of ice cubes.

  • Add a fresh mango wedge coated with the chili-lime seasoning and a lime slice for extra color, flavor, and taste.

  • Spoon or pour the prepared Mango Chili Lime purée into each glass.

  • Top with chilled sparkling water and garnish with fresh basil leaves. Stir everything until well combined.

  • Serve immediately while the drink is cold and fizzy.

Tropical Twist

  • For a tropical twist, you will need freshly squeezed or store-bought pineapple juice. Both * work perfectly well in this recipe.

  • If you love tropical fruit drinks, this variation is definitely worth trying.

  • Simply prepare the recipe as directed above, but replace part of the sparkling water with chilled pineapple juice before topping it with the remaining sparkling water.

  • The pineapple adds another layer of tropical sweetness that pairs beautifully with the freshly made Mango Chili Lime purée. It also makes the drink even fruitier, more refreshing, and absolutely delicious.

  • Finally, garnish with fresh basil leaves. You can also use a pineapple wedge for even more tropical flavor or extra mango slices for a more elegant presentation. But if you don’t add any garnish, that’s perfectly fine. It still tastes so good.

Homemade Mango Chili Lime Spritz served in three glasses with chili-lime seasoning, fresh basil, lime, and ice for a refreshing summer drink.

Variations

This Mango Chili Lime Mocktail is very versatile. You can enjoy it in many different ways.

Make it Spicier

If you want to make it spicier, simply add more chili powder or sprinkle in a pinch of smoked paprika or cayenne pepper for extra heat. You can also use fresh jalapeños or green chilies for added spice. Just taste the drink before serving and gradually increase the amount of chili powder until it is just right for you.

Extra Citrusy

To make it extra citrusy, simply add a little more fresh lime juice or even some fresh lemon juice for a brighter citrus flavor. You can also add a little fresh lime zest directly to the drink for even more zesty flavor and a lovely color contrast. If you like, you can also use lime soda or lemon-flavored sparkling water in place of regular sparkling water.

Herbal Twist

Fresh basil leaves are my favorite for this Mango Chili Lime Drink, but you can also use other fresh herbs such as mint or a little rosemary. Each herb gives the drink a slightly different flavor profile, so feel free to try your favorite. They all add a refreshing herbal touch that pairs beautifully with the mango and lime.

Tropical Version

If you like a tropical version, simply add pineapple juice to this sparkling mango mocktail. To make it even more tropical, you can also add passion fruit juice or orange juice. They all work beautifully in this recipe. If you want a creamier version, add a splash of coconut milk. It tastes really good in this drink.

Naturally Sweetened

To keep it on the healthier side, I use maple syrup to naturally sweeten this drink. But if your mangoes are extra sweet, you can simply reduce the amount of maple syrup or leave it out completely.

Frozen Version

Frozen summer drinks are the best. So, if you love frozen drinks, you can also make a frozen version of this Mango Chili Lime Spritz. Simply blend the prepared mango purée with a handful of ice cubes, or use frozen mangoes instead of fresh ones for an extra frosty drink. It is super refreshing and perfect for a hot summer day when you want something icy to help you cool down.

Fizzy Citrus Version

If you want a fizzy citrus version, replace some or all of the sparkling water with sparkling lime water or sparkling lemonade for even more citrus flavor.

Serving Suggestions

This refreshing and revitalizing Mango Chili Lime Spritz is delicious on its own, but you can also enjoy it with your favorite meal.

It pairs perfectly with summer meals such as tacos, burritos, grilled veggies, veggie burgers, wraps, sandwiches, or fresh salads. Fruity salads like mango avocado salad, peach salad, strawberry salad, apple salad, grape salad, or even chickpea salad all pair really well with this drink. The possibilities are endless.

You can also enjoy it as a refreshing snack or brunch drink alongside roasted corn on the cob.

It also makes a wonderful welcome drink for summer parties, birthday parties, backyard barbecues, bridal showers, baby showers, brunches, Cinco de Mayo celebrations, or any other gathering. Since it is completely non-alcoholic, everyone can enjoy it.

If you would like to turn it into a cocktail, simply add a splash of rum or vodka for a delicious boozy Mango Chili Lime Spritz.

For a beautiful presentation, I like to garnish each glass with fresh mango wedges, lime slices, fresh basil leaves, and a sprinkle of the chili-lime seasoning you made earlier.

You can also serve this drink with fruit salad, guacamole, watermelon fries, mango dessert, or any of your favorite summer snacks for an easy summer menu.

Storage Suggestions

This Mango Chili Lime Spritz is best enjoyed immediately after assembling because the sparkling water gradually loses its fizz.

However, if you are making it in advance, you can prepare the mango purée ahead of time and store it in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.

The chili-lime seasoning can also be prepared in advance and stored in an airtight container or jar in the refrigerator for up to several weeks. If you are not adding fresh lime zest, or if you are using dried lime zest instead, you can also store the seasoning at room temperature for several weeks.

When you are ready to serve, simply fill the glasses with plenty of ice. Give the mango purée a quick stir, then pour it into the glasses. Top with chilled sparkling water, sprinkle on a little chili-lime seasoning if you like, stir, and enjoy.

If you have leftover mango purée, you can freeze it in ice cube trays. The frozen cubes are wonderful for smoothies, mocktails, sparkling water, lemonade, or frozen desserts.

To make a quick mocktail, simply add the frozen Mango Chili Lime purée cubes to a glass. Add some fresh mango slices and lime slices, sprinkle on a little chili-lime seasoning, then pour sparkling water or soda water over the top. Your refreshing mango-flavored drink is ready in minutes.

Tips & Tricks to Make the Best Mango Chili Lime Spritz

  1. Mangoes: Mangoes are the star ingredient of this drink, so make sure to use fully ripe, sweet, and juicy mangoes for the puree. I also recommend using creamy, less fibrous mangoes, as fibrous mangoes don’t make the smoothest puree. If you are using fibrous mangoes, simply pass the puree through a sieve before using it in the drink. Also, avoid underripe mangoes, as they can make the drink taste sour and slightly grainy because they don’t blend into a silky-smooth puree.
  2. Sparkling Water: For making this drink, I like to use chilled sparkling water. Always add it just before serving to keep the drink light, bubbly, and refreshing. If you are serving it at a party, prepare the glasses with ice and the mango puree ahead of time, then pour the sparkling water into each glass just before serving.
  3. Lime Juice: Freshly squeezed lime juice gives the brightest flavor. Bottled lime juice also works well, but for the freshest flavor, I always recommend using fresh lime juice whenever possible. You can also swap the lime juice with fresh lemon juice for a slightly different citrus flavor.
  4. Maple Syrup: Before adding the maple syrup, taste your mangoes first. This gives you an idea of how sweet they are and helps you decide how much maple syrup to add. If your mangoes are naturally very sweet, reduce the amount of maple syrup. If they are slightly tart, simply add a little more.
  5. Blending: Always blend the mango puree until it is completely smooth and silky for the creamiest texture. If you want an extra-smooth puree with no bits remaining, simply pass it through a fine-mesh sieve or strainer before using it.
  6. Chili-Lime Coating: The chili-lime coating on the side of the glass is completely optional, but I highly recommend it because it gives the drink a beautiful presentation. It makes the drink look like something you would order at a nice restaurant. After all, we taste with our eyes first. If you don’t want too much chili-lime seasoning, simply dip one side of the glass into lime juice, then coat just that side with the freshly made chili-lime seasoning.
  7. Ice: Ice cubes play an important role in this drink. Fill the glasses generously with ice to keep the drink chilled without watering it down too quickly. I used whole ice cubes, but crushed ice works just as well.
  8. Serving: To keep this drink fresh and refreshing, assemble it just before serving so the sparkling water stays fizzy and bubbly.
  9. Garnish: Garnishing this drink is completely optional, but I like to finish it with fresh basil leaves. You can also use fresh mint or rosemary if you prefer a different herbal flavor. They both pair beautifully with the tropical flavors of the mango.
  10. Make Ahead: If you are making this drink in advance, prepare both the mango puree and the chili-lime seasoning ahead of time, then assemble the drinks just before serving.

FAQs

Can I make this Mango Chili Lime Spritz ahead of time?

Yes, you can definitely prepare this Mango Chili Lime Spritz in advance. Prepare the mango purée and chili-lime seasoning a day or two ahead of time. Store the mango purée in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days, and keep the chili-lime seasoning in an airtight jar.

I recommend storing the seasoning in the refrigerator because fresh lime zest contains a little moisture, so it is not ideal to store it at room temperature for long periods. If you are using dried lime zest or leaving out the lime zest altogether, then you can store it at room temperature.

When you are ready to serve, simply assemble the drink with ice and sparkling water. For the freshest flavor and fizz, always add the sparkling water just before serving.

Can I use frozen mangoes?

Yes, using frozen mangoes in this recipe is absolutely possible. Frozen mangoes work really well, especially if you are making a frozen Mango Chili Lime Spritz.

Simply blend the frozen mango chunks until smooth to get a thick, slushy texture, then pour it into glasses and top with sparkling water.

If you prefer a regular Mango Chili Lime Spritz instead of a slushy version, simply let the frozen mangoes thaw before blending them into a smooth purée. Whether you make the frozen or regular version is completely up to you.

Which mangoes are best for this recipe?

Sweet, ripe mangoes always taste the best in this drink. Kent, Ataulfo, Honey, Alphonso, and Keitt mangoes are all excellent choices because they are naturally sweet, juicy, and less fibrous. If your mangoes are naturally very sweet, simply reduce the amount of maple syrup.

Can I use another sweetener?

Yes, certainly. Maple syrup adds a subtle caramel-like sweetness that pairs beautifully with the fresh mangoes, but you can also use honey (if you are not making it vegan), agave syrup, or even simple syrup.

Just taste the mango purée first and adjust the sweetener according to the sweetness of your fruit and your personal taste.

Is this drink spicy?

This is not an overly spicy drink, but it does have a gentle spicy warmth from the chili powder. It won’t make the drink hot, but it adds a lovely warmth that pairs beautifully with the sweet mangoes.

If you prefer a milder drink, simply reduce the amount of chili powder. If you enjoy more heat, add a little extra chili powder or sprinkle some of the homemade chili-lime seasoning over the finished drink.

Can I make this without sparkling water?

Yes. If you prefer a still drink, simply replace the sparkling water with chilled water, coconut water, or even coconut milk for a creamier version.

The drink will still be refreshing, although it won’t have the same bubbly texture.

Can I make it into a cocktail?

Yes, absolutely. For an adult version, simply add a splash of tequila, vodka, white rum, or even sparkling wine. The sweet mangoes and fresh lime pair beautifully with all of these options.

Can I make a large batch for a party?

Yes, this recipe is easy to scale up, making it perfect for parties and celebrations.

Simply blend a larger batch of the mango purée ahead of time and keep it refrigerated. Just before serving, pour it over ice and top each glass with sparkling water to keep the drink fizzy and refreshing.

What can I do with leftover mango purée?

Leftover mango purée is really versatile, so you can use it in many different ways.

You can stir it into yogurt, blend it into smoothies with banana, coconut water, or milk, or simply enjoy it as it is.

You can also freeze it into popsicles by mixing it with coconut water or coconut milk, or use it as a topping for oatmeal, chia pudding, mango ice cream, or vanilla ice cream.
