Badam Ka Sharbat is a refreshing drink made using 3 main and 2 optional ingredients. Here are the ingredients used in Almond Sharbat:

  • Almonds: Almonds or badam is a primary ingredient of Badam Ka Sharbat recipe. You can use both raw and blanched almonds for this recipe. Since it is a key ingredient, make sure to use fresh and superior quality almonds for the best taste and flavor.

  • Sugar: It is added to sweeten this drink. Sugar also balances the flavor of the almonds. You can adjust the amount of sugar depending on personal taste preference. Other sweeteners that can be used in this recipe are brown sugar, jaggery powder, coconut sugar or palm sugar.

 

  • Water: It is used for soaking almonds, diluting almond paste, and cooking syrup. To make it a drinkable consistency you can either use water, almond milk, or regular milk.  

  • Flavorings: Freshly grounded cardamom, almond essence, and saffron strands are added to give this almond drink a delicate flavor and aroma. You can also use cardamom extract here.

Other flavorings that go well in this badam ka sharbat are saffron essence, rose water, or kewra water.  

  • Ice cubes: They are generally added to sharbats to keep them chilled. Adding ice cubes is optional though.

How to make Badam Ka Sharbat at home

Making badam syrup or badam ka sharbat concentrate at home is quite simple. To make this sharbat, soak raw or blanched almonds overnight. In the morning, discard the almonds and rinse them.  

Remove the almond skin if using raw almonds. After that, make a smooth paste with almond and water. In a pan, cook together milk and water until it forms 1 string syrup. Then add paste to it and boil for 10-12 minutes or until the syrup is thickened.  

Let it cool completely before storing. Once cooled, transfer it to a sterilized glass bottle. You can also strain the mixture at this point. Keep it refrigerated for up to 2 months.

To serve, take a tall glass and add 4-5 ice cubes and 1-2 tablespoons of Badam syrup (concentrate). Top it with chilled milk or water. Stir well until combined. You can also garnish with a few strands of saffron or chopped almonds.

Your refreshing Badam sharbat is ready, drink chilled.

To make a Brahmi Badam Sharbat Recipe, you need to follow the same recipe as Badam Sharbat, just add Brahmi leaves to the Badam and sugar mixture. Brahmi leaves are known for their memory and concentration improving properties.

Variations  

Badam Sharbat is a simple almond syrup made using basic ingredients. You can customize this drink to suit different tastes and preferences. Here are some Almond Sharbat recipe variations that you can try at home:

Kesar Badam Sharbat

To make this version of sharbat, add about 1 teaspoon of crushed saffron strands to sugar syrup. In this recipe, you can skip cardamom powder. The rest of the recipe will be the same.

Kaju Badam Sharbat

To make Kaju Badam Ka Sharbat, use cashews and almonds in 1:1 quantity. Soak them separately and blend together until smooth, and follow the same recipe.

Rose Badam Sharbat

To make rose flavored badam sharbat swap cardamom powder with 1-2 tablespoons of rose water. You can also mix badam syrup with ¼ cup of rose syrup to give it a more intense rose flavor and a pretty pink color.

Pistachio Badam Sharbat

To make this sharbat, use pistachios and almonds in equal quantities. Soak them separately for 8 hours. In the morning, remove pistachio skin and blend pistachio and almonds together until smooth. Add some pistachio nuts to the glass before serving.

Spiced Badam Sharbat

To make a spiced version of this sharbat, you can add ½ of fresh black pepper powder to badam sharbat mixture along with almond paste.

Alternatively, you can add 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon, or pinch of ground nutmeg, or 1/ teaspoon of ginger powder to the badam ka sharbat mixture to give it a warm and spicy flavor.

Serving Suggestions

Badam Ka Sharbat tastes best when served chilled over ice cubes. You can either dilute badam syrup with chilled milk or chilled water and chill it in the refrigerator for a few hours before serving or add ice cubes to the drink.  

To make it look more appealing, you can also garnish it with a few sliced or chopped almonds or dried rose petals.  

Badam ka Sharbat can be served as a standalone drink or can also be paired with snacks like corn chaat, bread chaat, hara bhara kabab, chips chaat, samosa, or paneer pakora.

Storage Suggestions

Almond Sharbat concentrate stays fresh for up to 2 months when stored in the refrigerator in a sterilized glass bottle.  

Freeze: You can also freeze the badam syrup in ice cube trays for a longer shelf life. This way, you can relish this drink for many months, even after the summer season has passed.  

To freeze, transfer the cooled syrup to an ice cube tray and freeze. Once frozen, transfer the badam syrup cubes to a Ziplock bag or freezer-safe container and freeze again. When you want to drink, add the badam sharbat cubes to a glass, top with chilled water or milk.

  2. Remove the almond skin: If you are using raw almonds, then remember to remove the skin from almonds. After soaking, you can remove the skin by gently rubbing the almonds between your fingers. This way you will get a smooth and creamy badam paste.

  3. Make smooth paste: For making smooth almond paste, use a blender, food processor or a mixer. A high-speed blender will help create a fine and uniform paste.

  4. Flavorings: I have used cardamom powder, almond essence and saffron strands for flavoring. To enhance the flavor and aroma of this badam syrup, you can also use other flavorings such as rose water, kewra water, or saffron essence.

  5. Adjust sugar to taste: For making this badam syrup, you can adjust the sweetness depending on personal taste preferences. So, feel free to add more or less sugar.  

  6. Serving: When serving sharbat, it is recommended to start with a small amount of badam syrup. Mix well, taste, and then gradually increase it to achieve the desired flavor and sweetness.

  1. Rinse almonds and soak them in 1.5 cups of water for 6 hours or overnight. If using raw almonds, then peel off the skin, but don’t discard the water. The skin should easily come off after soaking.

  3. In a high-speed blender, add the peeled almonds along with the water you soaked it in. Blend until you get a smooth and creamy almond paste.

  5. In a saucepan, combine the sugar, water, and heat over medium heat until the sugar dissolves completely. Keep stirring continuously. Add saffron strands and boil for about 5 minutes on medium heat.
