RECIPE INSTRUCTIONS

» How to Make Vegetarian Heart Pizza

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (220°C). To make a heart paper cutout, fold the paper in half and cut out the heart shape with scissors. If it is not properly shaped, simply trim the edges until you have a heart that will fit.
  2. Unfold the pizza dough on the wooden board. If your dough is too thick, then roll it out using a rolling pin, about 1/4 inch thick.Place the heart cutout on the rolled dough and and cut out shape from the rolled-out dough using a sharp knife or a pizza cutter. Remove the excess dough. I have made about 6 heart-shaped pizzas using 800 grams of dough.
  3. Spread the pizza or marinara sauce evenly over the heart-shaped piece of dough, leaving a 1/2-inch border around the edges. Add your choice of toppings over the sauce. I have used a combination of different toppings on all the pizzas. The veggie toppings I have used are mushrooms, onions, cherry tomatoes, zucchini, bell peppers, olives, mushrooms, sun-dried tomatoes, and pickled peppers. Sprinkle the mozzarella cheese and grated pizza cheese over the veggies. Sprinkle with red pepper flakes and oregano on top.
  4. Roll the dough again and repeat until all the dough is used up. Bake pizza in a preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is melted.
  5. Remove the pizza from the oven and let the pizza cool for a few minutes. Drizzle with olive oil and top with your favorite greens before slicing and serving. Slice and serve the pretty, gourmet, and delicious heart pizza hot and enjoy!

RECIPE NOTES

  1. To create a crispy crust, roll the pizza dough thin. Thin rolling would also help you to create a more uniform heart shape.
  2. You can add any toppings of your choice for making this pizza.
  3. If you are not comfortable working with thin crust, then you can pre-bake the crust for 4-5 minutes before adding the toppings will ensure a crispy crust.
  4. Using high-quality ingredients such as fresh vegetables and fresh cheese will make a big difference in the taste of your pizza.
  5. If you are rolling the dough thin, then be mindful of the number of toppings you add. Since the pizza base is not too thick, adding too many toppings can weigh down the pizza crust and make it soggy.
