RECIPE INSTRUCTIONS

» Bread Dahi Chaat:

  1. Place bread slices on a chopping board and cut them into small cubes using a knife.
  2. Transfer the bread pieces to a plate and sprinkle them with some chaat masala powder, black salt, and red chili powder.
  3. Toss well until all spices coat the bread pieces. Keep them aside.
  4. Heat a pan over medium-low heat. Brush or spray it with some oil.
  5. Once the pan is hot, arrange bread cubes in a single layer.
  6. Spray or brush the bread pieces with some oil.
  7. After that, toast them for 2 minutes on each side or until they light brown and crispy.
  8. Once done, remove the bread pieces from the pan and toast the rest of the bread pieces. Once done, remove them from the pan and set them aside to cool completely.
  9. Arrange the cooled toasted bread pieces on a serving plate in a single layer.
  10. Slightly break the potatoes with your hands and then place them on top of bread pieces.
  11. Top with chopped onions and chopped tomatoes.
  12. Then sprinkle with some chaat masala powder and cumin powder.
  13. Top with a generous amount of whisked yogurt (curd).
  14. Drizzle with tamarind chutney and mint coriander chutney.
  15. Sprinkle with chaat masala, red chili powder, cumin powder, and black salt.
  16. Top with some sev.
  17. Make another layer by sprinkling some with more potatoes, onions, and tomatoes.
  18. Then drizzle with some more yogurt, tamarind chutney, and mint coriander chutney.
  19. Sprinkle some more sev and red chili powder on top.
  20. Serve this spicy, tangy, and delicious bread dahi chaat immediately.

  17. Serve this lip-smacking and tangy bread chaat instantly.

RECIPE NOTES

  1. I have toasted bread in a pan, but you can also toast them in a toaster or shallow fry them.
  2. If you want crispy bread cubes, then make sure to toast bread sliced at medium-low heat, and let them cool completely before using in chaats
  3. Toasting bread pieces ahead of time is also an excellent option. That way you can make chaat anytime you want, and also you will get crispy bread pieces
  4. Always serve bread chaats right after you add the toppings. Or else the bread would absorb all the liquids and the chaat would turn soggy.
