RECIPE INSTRUCTIONS

» For making Oreo Truffles

  1. Add 28 oreo cookies to a food processor, and crush them into fine crumbs. Alternatively, you can place cookies in a ziplock bag and smash them using a rolling pin or a meat hammer. Transfer 1-2 tbsp crushed cookies to a bowl for topping. This step is completely optional.
  2. Transfer crushed Oreos to a mixing bowl. Add the room temperature cream cheese to the bowl and mix slightly using a spatula. Now mix using hands until mixture is well combined, it would come together like a slightly sticky dough.
  3. Scoop mixture out about 1 tbsp at a time and roll into a smooth ball using greased hands. Place it on a parchment or wax paper-lined freezer-safe tray.
  4. Keep shaping balls until all the mixture is used up. Freeze them for 30 minutes to 1 hour or until they are firm.
  5. Add white chocolate pieces to a bowl and melt it in a double boiler (bain-marie) or the microwave. Once melted, remove the bowl from the pot. Set it aside and let it cool until it is at room temperature. It should still be liquid at this point.
  6. Similarly, add dark or milk chocolate pieces to a bowl and melt it in a double boiler (bain-marie) or the microwave. Once melted, remove the bowl from the pot. Set it aside and let it cool until it is at room temperature. It should still be liquid at this point.
  7. Remove truffles from the freezer and dip each ball in the melted chocolate using a mini skewer or a toothpick. Allow the excess chocolate to run off, then place it on a sheet or parchment paper to set.
  8. If you want to decorate the truffles with oreo crumbs, immediately sprinkle them with the crumbs, as the shells will harden quickly. Alternatively, you can also drizzle them with melted chocolate using a fork/spoon or a piping bag for a nice finishing touch.
  9. Dip all the truffles in the chocolate. Once ready, let them set in the refrigerator for 15 minutes before serving. Once set, trim off the extra chocolate for the final touch.
  10. Delicious Oreo Truffles are ready. You can store them in an airtight container in the refrigerator.

RECIPE NOTES

  1. Sometimes melted chocolate is slightly thick, so you can use vegetable oil to thin it out to a dipping consistency. If your melted chocolate is too thick for coating, then you can add 1-2 teaspoons of neutral vegetable oil to the melted chocolate. Mix vigorously until everything is well combined. You will get a smooth coating.
  2. If you are sprinkling truffles with cookie crumbs then make sure to sprinkle them immediately with crumbs as the shell will harden quickly and it won?t stick to chocolate.
  3. For a colored chocolate coating, you can add a few drops of your favorite oil-based color to the melted white chocolate, and stir well until you get a uniform color.
